BodyTite is an improved technique that addresses the fat under the skin using directional radio-frequency (RF). This is a radiofrequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL) that results in the removal of targeted fat and tightening of the skin. The technology is also able to ensure a treatment in the deep fat areas as well as on the skin surface. Liposuction is able to remove the unwanted fat, but it doesn’t target skin tightening and results in irregular contours. Some treatment plans include both liposuctions followed by BodyTite procedure. BodyTite is FDA-approved since 2016, which yields sculpturing of the body, firming the skin and structures in the subcutaneous tissue layer.
BodyTite is extremely beneficial for its minimally invasive body contouring procedure that was formerly only achieved through extensive surgical procedures. This technique leaves minimal scarring and helps the fat to dissolve faster and easier. The thermal energy is used to coagulate small blood vessels, which reduces the possibility of bruising and thus reducing downtime. Compared to traditional methods such as liposuction, BodyTite provides tissue tightening, that is safe and effective for patients with all types of skin for the most part. The procedure requires local anesthesia, therefore the patient is awake for the procedure and the pain is minimized. The expected time is around 30 to 90 minutes depending on the treatment areas and treatment plan.

BodyTite procedure requires a handpiece that provides radiofrequency energy from an external electrode and an internal probe. A tiny incision is done prior to inserting the probe. This procedure is done only under local anesthesia. The probe precisely transfers heat to the adipose tissue as well as superficial tissue beneath the skin. This helps generate collagen in the skin, along with dissolving fat cells and triggering the skin to contract and tighten.
According to the article published in the Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences, and Applications, “A Clinical and Histological Study of Radiofrequency - Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) Mediated Skin Tightening and Cellulite Improvement” followed a clinical study examining whether the novel RFAL technology offers skin tightening effect that is stable over time. The results concluded an observation of the instantaneous firming of the skin and underlying tissue. All patients involved in the study showed abdominal and arm skin tightening following the treatment. As a conclusion, the “destruction of collagen fibers was observed in the deep dermis and at the dermal -hypodermal junction” after treatment. Fragments from RFAL treated skin showed a statistically significant increase in its elastic fibers levels.
A good candidate for BodyTite is an individual in good health, closer to their body weight, and have unwanted adipose tissue accumulation. The provider has to consult with the patients prior to making a treatment plan for that individual. Other factors may have to be discussed with the doctor. The results will persist depending on the quality of care taken by the patient after the procedure. Aging, pregnancy, and heredity contribute to sagging skin. Individuals with fat resistant to exercise and diet and sagging skin can benefit from BodyTite.
