BodyTite with Liposuction: Better Results?

BodyTite is a novel procedure that is a radiofrequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL) technology and is used to remove unwanted fat and tighten the skin. On the other hand,   Liposuction, the most performed aesthetic surgery in the world, is used to target deep and superficial fat accumulations and contour the body. There is a lot of misconception that either BodyTite or Liposuction is ideal for each patient. In some cases, people chose liposuction as it has been popular for years compared to BodyTite, which recently got FDA approval in 2016. Although, both of these procedures have their advantages. Thanks to the advancements in medicine, liposuction combined with BodyTite can achieve incredible results.

BodyTite is very non-invasive and requires one single prick to insert a probe. This procedure uses thermal energy to target more superficial fat tissue in order to tighten that particular area of the body. These areas may include the abdomen, knees, thighs, bra line, male bust areas, arms, etc. The fat that is targeted by BodyTite, does not provide drastic fat loss. It is more beneficial for body contouring. For a particularly obese patient, BodyTite will not be entirely effective. BodyTite requires a patient to be closer to their ideal weight. The sagging of skin and stubborn fat under the skin is the main treatment area for BodyTite. BodyTite also helps regain collagen in the skin and helps the rejuvenation of the body frame. This helps with the elasticity of the skin. The procedure minimizes the downtime of only a day or two for recovery. It can be argued that BodyTite is a better option than Liposuction, but BodyTite fails to address the larger amount of fat.

Liposuction treats and reduces the fat that results in a reduction of the thickness of body flaps. A cannula is used to aspirate the unwanted fat from the body as a closed technique that helps vacuum the fat. Liposuction results are long-lasting. After the post-procedure swelling subsides, the skin may be left with some excessive bulk due to the fat loss. Aging can also contribute to the loosening of the skin. The duration that the procedure may last also depends on weight management. According to Mayo Clinic, “Liposuction Dienst improve cellulite dimpling or other skin surface regularities”.

If BodyTite and liposuction are paired in a treatment plan, the procedure can eliminate more significant excess fat and leave tight skin. In this case, both deep and superficial adipose tissue pockets are administered and treated. The superficial skin of the procedure area after liposuction stays untreated and may cause sagging of the skin. But BodyTite targets that issue. According to the article form Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, “A safety and Feasibility Study of a Novel Radiofrequency- Assisted Liposuction Technique” loosening or sagging of the skin after the liposuction procedure is common. But to avoid the lack of elasticity, the Radio-Frequency-Assisted Lipolysis (BodyTite) probe conveys energy to tighten the skin.

Much better results can be achieved with liposuction followed by BodyTite. Both can be done as a part of the same treatment plan and on the same day. Given that BodyTite is minimally invasive, it doesn’t cause additional pain or scarring. New collagen that is built will lead to better skin elasticity and tightening followed by the liposuction treatment.
