PicoSure is an aesthetic picosecond laser for a safe and effective removal of acne scars. PicoSure can also target tattoo removal, benign pigmentation, wrinkles, and skin revitalization treatments. Cynosure PocoSure laser treats wavelengths 532 nm, 755 nm, and 1064 nm, and is, therefore, able to treat pigmentary conditions. This technology combines a dual approach that includes a strong photomechanical impact based on ultra-short pulse duration. This particular combination of photothermolysis and intense photomechanical impact is called PressureWave. This pressure wave breaks up the intended target, such as tattoo ink as well as scars from acne.
Areas of concern that can be treated by PicoSure include brown spots, sun damage, freckles, pigment lesions, and stubborn acne scar. The localizes, focused thermal energy gives impressive results without harming the surrounding skin. This is also very effective on very light to very dark skin. PicoSure’s Pressure Wave technology’s unique wavelength capacity and specialized lens convert laser energy into pressure. This pressure squeezes cells, ultimately activating the natural cell signaling processes that create new collagen and elastin. The procedure is safe as it doesn't burn or damage the skin. The cell signaling initiates an enhanced inflammatory response that shows healing due to increased collagen and elastin. PicoSure doesn't rely on heat to burn away and destroy skin to force the body to heal but instead utilizes the body’s immune response.
PicoSure laser focuses on the activation of the body’s natural skin cell processes for healthy and youthful skin. Unwanted pigmentation and uneven skin due to acne can be targetted by a PicuSure treatment plan which helps the production of new collagen and elastin, which are the key to younger-looking skin. The result of PicoSure for acne scarring is brighter, healthier, and younger-looking skin. Although, PicoSure is noninvasive and safe for the most part, there are some contraindications as each patient is unique. Some contraindications include:
The procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area of treatment discussed in the treatment plan. Numbing cream is applied to enhance comfort. There may be a post-procedure redness, although this procedure requires little to no downtime. Typically, for acne scarring reduction, three to four treatments are recommended with about 2-4 weeks interval.
