Diagnostic Blood Test

With our state of art laboratory at Sleep & Wellness, we are able to run blood tests for various conditions or diseases and some results are available immediately. Blood tests are an integral part of medical diagnostics and our in-house laboratory facility provides physicians immediate access to one of the most valuable tools for diagnosis and disease management.

Tests we perform for diagnosis and management of various diseases are as follows:

  • Blood chemistry
    • We can evaluate important electrolytes in our blood like sodium, potassium or chloride
    • Assess functions of important organs such as kidney and liver
    • Blood sugar- the key molecule for diabetes diagnosis
  • HbA1c

The HbA1c, also known as glycated hemoglobin - averages the mean glucose concentration over the period of the last 2-3 months and provides a much better indication of long-term glycemic control than blood and urinary glucose levels. Diabetic patients with very high blood concentrations of glucose have from 2 to 3 times more HbA1c than normal individuals.

  • Hormones

Hormones areintegral part of our body function. Any imbalance inhormone can cause a wide variety of signs and symptoms. We test blood for the following hormones:

    • Female hormones -estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH etc.
    • Male hormones- testosterone, DHEAs, FSH, LH etc.
    • Thyroid hormones
  • Vitamins and minerals

These molecules are essential for optimum health. B12, folate,Vitamin-D, ferritin (storage form of iron)- levels we check very often to ensure our patients are not suffering any type of deficiency.

  • Lipid Panel

Several forms of blood cholesterol are important predictors of cardiovascular health. HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, and triglycerides are part of the panel we test to check the status of your cardiovascular health.

  • Specialty tests: Patients needing blood tests for specific needs can have their specimen sent to Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics for further analysis.

Instructions for the patient

Many blood tests don't require any special preparations. For some, you may need to fast at least 8 hours before the test. Drinking water is permitted during this period. You will be notified about fasting before the test.

During the test, a small sample of blood is taken from your body. It's usually drawn from a vein in your arm using a needle. A finger prick also might be used.

The procedure usually is quick and easy, although it may cause some short-term discomfort.
