What is it?

Acne is caused by oversecretion of sebum, an oil made by sebaceous glands in the skin. Sebum is important for lubricating the skin, and the sebaceous glands are found anywhere that can grow hair as they’re connected to hair follicles. Acne is extremely common and while it most commonly affects adolescents, it can develop earlier and last a lot longer than one’s teenage years.
